"Please Act Accordingly"                                                 

I feel that in the society surrounding me  there is a social norm that compels the individual to put on a fake representation of happiness, to project outwardly that "everything is all right" and wear a smiling mask whenever you go out on the street. This collection presents the phenomenon of conforming and wearing a joyful countenance vis-a-vis the complexity  of one's inner feelings and authentic emotions that do not necessarily match that appearance. The "smiley" icon, which represents a cliche image of happiness, was a primary source of inspiration for me in designing this collection. By flattening the body into 2D and creating contrasts between the front part of the garment, which represents the "happiness front" and the back part, which exposes ones true emotions. Using manual techniques of embroidery and knitting, the collection establishes a duality between the outward appearance and the inner emotions.
